Scrivere equazioni su OpenOffice Writer velocemente
Oggi ho dovuto ricopiare alcuni compiti in classe di Matematica, per mia madre (della serie: lo schiavismo va ancora di moda), 
in cui erano presenti delle espressioni; colgo l’occasione per appuntare, qui su Technoburger, i passi da seguire per scrivere velocemente delle equazioni matematiche con OpenOffice Formula.
Premessa: OpenOffice è privo di un editor WYSIWYG (cioè, un editor visuale - è l’acronimo di What You See Is What You Get), e occorre conoscerne la sintassi. Nonostante l’editor di equazioni mostri in tempo reale il risultato, cliccare su un elemento dello stesso ha un solo effetto: portare il cursore nel punto del codice relativo all’oggetto selezionato. In questo senso, per un neofita, l’editor di equazioni di Word (Microsoft Equation Editor) risulta più semplice.
Sintassi di OpenOffice Formula
Ti mostro anzitutto i pochi elementi della sintassi di OpenOffice Formula che dovrai conoscere:
- Parentesi in scala: se tu inserissi solo i caratteri “(” e “)”, le parentesi non si adatterebbero all’altezza del contenuto (in questo caso, le frazioni); dovrai utilizzare le parentesi in scala:
- Parentesi tonda aperta: left (
- Parentesi tonda chiusa: right )
- Parentesi quadra aperta: left [
- Parentesi quadra chiusa: right )
- Parentesi graffa aperta: left lbrace
- Parentesi graffa chiusa: right rbrace
- Frazioni: Si usa over. Ad esempio, per ottenere a/b, si deve scrivere a over b
- Segni di moltiplicazione e divisione: per ottenere il punto (moltiplicazione) si usa cdot; per il segno di divisione, invece, div
- Elevamento a potenza: si usa ^. Ad esempio, {a+b+c}^3, per elevare il polinomio a+b+c alla terza. (vedi sotto per quanto riguarda il significato delle parentesi graffe.
- Gruppi di elementi: se vuoi applicare un operatore non ad un solo numero, ma ad un gruppo di numeri (o elementi: ad esempio, se vuoi inserire un polinomio in un numeratore o denominatore, oppure inserire un meno davanti alla riga di frazione), puoi raggruppare i vari elementi in parentesi graffe; ad esempio:
- per ottenere -a/b, in modo da avere il segno meno davanti alla riga di frazione, devi digitare
-{a over b} - per ottenere una frazione il cui numeratore sia costituito dal polinomio a+b+c elevato alla n, e il denominatore un altro polinomio d+e+f elevato alla m, devi digitare:
{a+b+c}^n over {d+e+f}^m - se vuoi inserire un segno meno davanti alla precedente espressione, ed elevare il risultato (inserito all’interno di parentesi tonde) alla (j+k):
left (-{{a+b+c}^n over {d+e+f}^m} right )^{j+k}
- per ottenere -a/b, in modo da avere il segno meno davanti alla riga di frazione, devi digitare
Esempio: inserire un’equazione su OpenOffice Writer
Già con questo dovresti essere pronto ad inserire le tue equazioni su OpenOffice; vediamo però un esempio, in cui ti mostrerò i miei “trucchetti” per non sbagliarmi con le parentesi e i raggruppamenti. In certi casi, quando ci prenderai mano, lo troverai anche più comodo dell’editor di Word. 
Se hai programmato almeno una volta, oppure hai utilizzato calcolatrici “avanzate” come la Texas Instruments Ti89, ti sarai abituato a scrivere prima gli operatori e le parentesi vuote e poi, successivamente, a riempirle con numeri o variabili (ad esempio: (()/())^(()*()) ). In questo modo, si riduce di molto la probabilità di commettere errori (come delle parentesi non chiuse), e di scrivere subito un’espressione o equazione corretta.
Beh, ti suggerisco di fare lo stesso con OpenOffice Formula, dato che la modalità di inserimento delle espressioni ed equazioni è la stessa. L’unica differenza: mentre nei linguaggi di programmazione e nelle calcolatrici gli elementi per raggruppare sono le parentesi tonde, come hai visto prima su OpenOffice sono le parentesi graffe.
Un altro suggerimento: non scrivere l’equazione sulla stessa riga. Nell’editor della formula, infatti, puoi usare tranquillamente a capi ed indentazioni (col tasto tab). In questo modo puoi dividere l’equazioni in più parti (che non si rifletteranno sul risultato finale), in modo da semplificare e velocizzare la modifica delle stesse.
Inserisci una formula, dal menu Inserisci > Oggetto > Formula, e comincia col ricopiare il seguente codice:
left [
left ( {} -{} -{} right )
div
left ( {} -{} right )
right]^2
=
left ( {{} over 8} div {{} over 24} right )^2
Successivamente, inserirai, nelle parentesi vuote, le varie frazioni e numeri:
left [
left ( {1 over 8} -{1 over 2} -{7 over 4} right )
div
left ( 5 over 6 -{1 over 8} right )
right]^2
=
left ( {{1-4-14} over 8} div {{20-3} over 24} right )^2
Come puoi vedere, inserire equazioni su OpenOffice non è semplice come su Word - il prezzo delle cose gratuite… Però, a mio avviso, una volta presa l’abitudine la scrittura potrebbe risultare più veloce. 
È tutto! 
Se ti dovesse servire la sintassi di altri operatori, usa lo strumento Selezione (se non è attivo, lo trovi nel menu Visualizza > Selezione) di OpenOffice formula!

Ottimo, Andrea! Io utilizzo in genere Microsoft Equation 3.0, ma questa mi sembra un’alternativa utile, potente e open.

vi volevo chiedere una cosa. sempre su formula come faccio a scrivere le combinzioni. ossia due numeri in veritcale all’interno di due parentesi tonde?
lo spesso è necessario quando vogliamo definire i vaori di una funzione, i quali vengono elencati con a destra una parentesi graffa. mi potete aiutare?
